The Dunes of Merzouga's sand
A grand spectacle, to see in the bedtime(sunset) or in the sunrise, the dunes of sand of the erg chebbi is the biggest of Moroccan Sahara. Situated not far from Erfoud and Rissani's centre (respectively 50km and 40km), the guest remains dazzled by these high eternal dunes which can achieve 150m of height. In the first caresses of the sun, these dunes, offer indeed a gradation of tones of an infinite sweetness going of beige to the apricot which remains a magic and unique(only) sight to the world. The legend tells that they are the punishment imposed by God on the inhabitants of the Merzourga's former(ancient) village, guilty of inhospitalité. A wind of sand got up buries it under these dunes the inhabitants and their houses. |
